Had a wonderful day fishing with Pike on a Bike. Even though the weather did not cooperate so we were unable to use the bikes, my guide worked hard to put me on the fish and I caught my first pike on the fly rod. I would highly recommend Pike on a Bike and Guide for Fishing for anyone traveling in The Netherlands.

Hanno guides us on a morning excursion in the canals of Rotterdam. He effectively communicated electronically as we made our arrangements, and was responsive to questions we had. His English is very good. He was a friendly guide with good suggestions to improve technique for better fishing. On our day, the fish were quite uncooperative, and we had only a few hits and hook-ups. But he brought us to several nice fishing locations in the Rotterdam area, and we had a very enjoyable time. I will definitely be contacting Hanno again to get out on the water and do some fishing.

I didn't give the overall mark 5 stars because I didn't actually catch a pike, but that wasn't the guide Hanno's fault. It was just not the optimal time of the year for pike hunting, Plus to make it worse, my trip was preceeeded by a month of hot weather. Again, not great for pike fishing. But, I didn't time my trip to the Netherlands to fish for pike, so beggars cannot be choosers. Still, Hanno hooked two pike, but we got neither to the net (while the second fish was hooked, a monster pike tried to eat it, which was spectacular).

It was great fun. Streetfishing is an active type of fishing, casting, moving to the next spot, etc, which I like. Also, since you're standing on a street, you don't need special gear (waders or boots, etc), so it's really convenient. We ended up catching perch, zander (walleye), and asp, all predator fish. To catch fish like that, in a beautiful old dutch city is really cool, and novel. I recommend it.
